Should I give a 46-year-old salon owner a chance, or am I making a mistake?

Should I give a 46-year-old salon owner a chance, or am I making a mistake?
Hi everyone.

I'm 24 years old and moved to the U.S. from Vietnam about year.

I came here with one goal.

Work hard, save money, and send as much as I can back home to help my parents.

About three months ago, I finished nail school and started working at my current salon.

The owner's name is Loc.

He's 46 years old.

He's divorced and has children who live with their mother.

From my first week at work, he was incredibly kind to me.

When my car broke down, he drove me home.

When I didn't understand customers because of my English, he patiently helped me.

He even spent time after work teaching me how to build a regular customer list so I could earn better tips.

When I worried about sending enough money home, he quietly advanced part of my paycheck and told me to pay him back whenever I could.

He has never asked me for interest.

He has never pressured me.

He has never touched me inappropriately.

A few weeks ago, he finally admitted that he liked me.

He said he knew the age difference was big, but he wanted to get to know me outside of work.

I didn't know what to say.

The truth is...

I do like him.

He's mature.

Responsible.

Calm.

He makes me feel safe.

But every time I think about dating him, I also think about the 22-year age gap.

I'm afraid people will think I'm only interested because he's my boss.

Some coworkers have already started whispering.

A few even joked that I must have found my shortcut to the American dream.

Those comments really hurt because they couldn't be further from the truth.

If I only cared about money, there are probably easier ways than working six days a week in a nail salon.

Another part of me worries about mixing work and a relationship.

If things don't work out, I'd probably have to leave the salon.

I also wonder if I'm simply grateful to someone who helped me during a difficult time, and maybe I'm confusing gratitude with love.

So I'm asking this community for honest advice.

If you were 24 and someone who was 46 treated you with respect, supported you without expecting anything in return, and genuinely cared about you...

Would you give the relationship a chance?

Or would the age difference and the fact that he's also my boss be enough reason to walk away?
