I Thought He Really Cared

I Thought He Really Cared
Im from Vietnam i moved to the United States not long ago and started working in a nail salon.

Everything was new to me.

My English was not very good, so I did not know many people.

A man started coming into the salon every few weeks.

He was friendly, always made me laugh, and slowly asked for my phone number.

He told me I worked too hard and deserved someone who would take care of me.

I believed him.

We started seeing each other after work.

For a while I thought I had finally found someone I could trust.

One day another customer quietly asked me if I knew he was married.

My heart dropped.

When I confronted him, he admitted it and said he planned to leave his wife one day.

I knew that was probably never going to happen.

I blocked his number that same night.

Moving to a new country is hard enough.

The last thing anyone needs is someone taking advantage of your loneliness.

I hope other girls who are new here remember that being patient is always better than believing sweet words too quickly.
